Inspiration

I found this artist, Kevin Wilson and was inspired by some of his work.  It seemed to go along with the idea of memories and dreams that me and my partner have been brainstorming.  I really liked the caption he put with this photograph: "I remembered very little of the dream on waking.  The remaining details of the dream came to me when I looked in the bathroom mirror."  This image and quote got my brain thinking about the photograph I am working on right now.  The idea I had was a dream within a dream, trying to distinguish what is real and what is not. Also, how dreams are made from memories and how parts of dreams can be triggered by something you see or think about.

I really like the use of the slight silhouette here and I thought it can be really helpful for images of dreams and memories.  In a lot of his other works, his use of layers works really well in trying to convey the idea of a complex dream or memory.

Meeting Srishti Students

This blog is to document a collaboration project between students at URI in a digital photography class, and students at the Srishti School in India.  This is a really exciting experience were we will be able to partner with a student there and  explore the theme of Memory and Technology together.  Yesterday two classes Skyped!  I was a little nervous at first but it ended up being a lot of fun.  We talked speed dating style so we could talk to as many people as possible in order to pick partners to work with.  It was very exciting to talk to everyone and hear their interests and ideas.  It will be really interesting to see how our ideas and work comes together!
